Sydney is a huge city that has a lot to offer. We spent 3 days in this city and decided to take a 2 days ticket for the hop on hop off bus because the distances were quite long. We were staying in Birchgrove, a suburb in the Inner West of the city (around 5km from the city center) and by ferry it took us 20 minutes to get to the city center. Here is my recommended itinerary for three days in Sydney:
1st Day: The first day I would recommend to make a boat trip in Sydney harbor. You can admire the Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and Fort Denison, Store Beach, Manly and explore the Taronga Zoo. In the afternoon you should get a closer look at the Sydney Opera House and walk around the Royal Botanic Gardens with its Parliament House and the library.

2nd Day: In the morning you should visit the Fish Market and have a walk at King St. Wharf. You can also visit the Aquarium or the Maritime Museum. The you can go shopping in George Street and relax in Hyde Park. In the evening you should definitely walk over the Harbour Bridge (it takes longer than it seems) and have some fun in the Luna Park, an amusement park with many different rides and attractions.

3rd Day: On your last day it’s time to go to the beach. Take a ride to Bondi Beach, one of the most famous beaches in Australia and take a swim, rent a surfboard or just observe the large amount of surfers that are enjoying their time in the sea.
Accommodation: We stayed in a private apartment (64€ /night for a double room with a balcony and a private bathroom) that we found on Airbnb. Our host was Marilyn who was adorable. Her husband had a boat, so that we made a tour for free in Sydney Harbour.
