Indonesia has a lot to offer, starting with some of the most magical islands in the world. Lombok island itself also boats countless interesting sights for travelers. During our four weeks trip to Indonesia, we spent two days in Senaru, central Lombok, where we found the magical Tiu Kelep Waterfall.
To get to the waterfall, you need to go through the stairway entrance, which will lead you to another beautiful waterfall called Sendang Gile. At the entrance, there usually are some guides waiting, who will tell you they need to go with you if you want to find the right path to the Waterfall, but since we didn’t want to pay for a guide, we went on on our own. The first waterfall Sendang Gile is easy to find – you just need to go down the stairs for approximately thirty minutes.
The path to the Tiu Kelep Waterfall is well hidden, but you can still find it on the left before going up the path. We followed the path, climbed over the stairs and walked through a river till we heard the noise of the waterfall from far away. We knew we were on the right track, but it took us 20 minutes more to get to the impressive waterfall.
When you’re there, you can take a bath and look upwards into the waterfall. The force of the water is breathtaking, we stayed quite a long time enjoying the moment. We were alone all the time, I’m not really sure if there are that many tourists who get to experience this. Going back was quite awkward at times since we were completely wet, but it was definitely worth it.
